HAPPY PRIDE MONTH 2021!
Supporting LGBTQIA+ Communities
Pride Month was created to commemorate the Stonewall riots of June 1969. Every year, Pride events are held worldwide to recognize the impact LGBTQIA+ people have had in this world and celebrate and embrace identity.
Did you know that among U.S. adults, 4.5% identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender? Stigma, lack of cultural sensitivity, and unconscious and/or conscious reluctance to address sexuality continues to hamper the effectiveness of care.
What can you do?
Support LGBTQIA+ family and friends. Whether you are an ally or a member of the community, let's work together to foster a supportive environment.
Practice gratitude - celebrate and encourage being your genuine self. Make the time for this simple daily practice: Write down one positive thing each day that you like about yourself, do this for the entire month. At the end of the month, read the list you've put together. It can be hard to see at times, but there's so much of yourself to be proud about!
