Executive Director's February Message

Happy Chinese New Year and Vietnamese Tet! Both the Chinese and Vietnamese celebrate the Lunar New Year with lucky foods and time-honored traditions that bring good luck, good health and good fortune. During this time of COVID surge, we urge everyone to celebrate safely.

If you have symptoms or have been exposed to someone with COVID, your SFHSS health plan now reimburses for up-to eight (8) at-home rapid COVID antigen tests per month and you can get four (4) FREE at-home COVID tests sent to your home.

February is also a time to recognize and celebrate the history and contributions of Black/African Americans. The San Francisco Public Library is hosting a series of events titled More Than A Month to help feed our soul with knowledge, appreciation and understanding. The focus this year is on the importance of Black Health and Wellness, so check out the library’s free meditation, yoga and craft programs with local creators and businesses.

SFHSS has some wonderful programs for you and your dependents to live a healthier life. Start by setting attainable health goals such as improving your heart health through managing stress, increasing movement or changes to your diet with our Live Feel Be Better program and sign-up for our Diabetes Prevention Program that has been proven to help reduce your risk for type 2 diabetes.

If this year didn’t start the way you wanted it to, make it better by doing something good for our health.

Be well,

Abbie Yant, RN
Executive Director
