On March 16th, the Mayor of San Francisco issued a shelter in place order requiring SFHSS to close our offices to the public.

Please visit "Stay at Home Except for Essential Needs," which has information about staying in place and what to do during this public health crisis.

It is critical that each of us play our part in reducing the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) by following public health orders, sheltering in place and practicing social distancing.

SFHSS remains committed to serving our members.  You can continue to fax your application and documents to (415) 554-1721. We are processing inbound fax requests.

You can reach us by leaving a voicemail message at  (415) 554-1750. We will call you back within 72 hours. Please be patient, we are working as diligently as possible to meet your needs. We are committed to serving the health and well being of our members through this challenging time.

We are prioritizing: 

  • New Hire Enrollment – Welcome! You have 30 days to enroll.  

  • Family Status Change – New baby, newly married or divorced – we’re here to ensure your family is covered! 

  • Denial of Service (POS) – If a doctor, hospital or pharmacy has unexpectedly refused service, we can help. 

  • Disruptions or Loss of Coverage – Did you have a Leave of Absence where your premiums are no longer being paid through your paycheck? We can show you how to pay your premiums directly (online) or via mail to ensure continued coverage or help you reinstate your coverage. 

A Special Note for Child Care Dependent Flexible Spending Accounts

As the need for childcare changes during this time, account usage for members who are enrolled in Child Care Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts can change. If there is a significant increase or decrease in the cost for dependent care, this may present an opportunity for members to adjust their elections for the Child Care Dependent Care FSA only.

If you are enrolled in a Child Care Dependent Care FSA and your needs for childcare have changed, you can change your bi-weekly contributions that are deducted from your paycheck but submitting your request in writing and mail to SFHSS or fax at (415) 554-1721.
