Executive Director's November Message

Rey Guillen, Executive Director

As we head into the holiday season, it is a great time to review your benefits and take advantage of all that is available before this year comes to a close. Here are a few important reminders for November:

  • Use your FSA funds: For those with a Flexible Spending Account, remember, you can only carry over up to $640 from your 2025 Healthcare FSA into 2026. If you have remaining funds, consider using them for eligible expenses like prescriptions, co-payments, and other eligible medical supplies before the end of the year. The Dependent Care FSA is a “use it or lose it” benefit, so be sure to submit your eligible expenses and use up your funds if you haven’t already done so.
  • Don't put off dental work: SFHSS’ Delta Dental PPO plans have a maximum dollar amount the plan will pay for covered dental services within a single year, January 1st to December 31st. If you have been delaying dental treatment, try and schedule some of the treatment before the end of the year. At the start of the new calendar year, the maximum is reset to the full amount, and you will have another full benefit allowance.
  • Holiday wellness: Your well-being is important. If you or a family member needs support during the holiday season, our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available 24/7 to provide confidential counseling and resources for managing stress. Call (628) 652-4600.

In addition, November marks Diabetes Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about diabetes and its impact on millions of Americans. Many employees are either living with diabetes or at high risk of developing it. This month, we encourage you to take a moment to learn more about diabetes, including its risk factors and the importance of early detection. Making healthy lifestyle choices, such as eating nutritious foods and staying physically active, can significantly lower your risk for type 2 diabetes.

SFHSS is committed to supporting your well-being and have resources available through our health benefits programs and well-being initiatives. Most importantly, we want to foster a culture of support and understanding for all employees. Please take advantage of the resources on the American Diabetes Association and CDC websites. You can also find information about SFHSS’ specific wellness programs.

Finally, as Thanksgiving approaches, I would also like to personally thank you for helping us create a healthier and more supportive workplace for everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Warmly,

Rey Guillen, Executive Director
