Flex Credits for Members of the Municipal Executives Association (MEA)

As a member of the Municipal Executives Association (MEA), you receive a Management Cafeteria Plan that provides you with flexible (flex) credits. The amount of these credits depends on the medical plan and coverage tier you choose. You do not need to enroll in health benefits to receive your flex credits.

You can use your flex credits toward both pre-tax health benefits and post-tax options, such as voluntary benefits, and you’re free to choose the combination that best fits your needs and budget. If the cost of your selected benefits exceeds your available flex credits, you pay the difference through your salary. If your benefits cost less than your flex credits, you receive the remaining amount as taxable, non-pensionable cash in your paycheck.
