Speaker and Moderator Information

Dr. Christian Lee-Rodriguez (He / Him / His) is a native Californian from Los Angeles and a graduate of UCLA. He later moved to Washington, DC, to attend medical school before settling in Oakland, drawn by the Bay Area’s rich diversity in people and culture. A native Spanish speaker, Dr. Lee Rodriguez is proud to contribute to the inclusive community at Kaiser Permanente.

He specializes in Internal Medicine and HIV Medicine, with a passion for providing comprehensive care—from prevention and management of acute and chronic conditions to supporting mental and emotional well-being. As a primary care provider, Dr. Lee-Rodriguez often serves as the first point of contact for patients, aiming to build long-term relationships rooted in trust and continuity.

Deeply committed to health equity, Dr. Lee-Rodriguez advocates for quality care for underrepresented communities, with a focus on breaking down language and cultural barriers. He strives to create a welcoming, inclusive space for all patients, particularly those from LGBTQ+, Latinx, and communities of color.

Outside of his clinical work, Dr. Lee-Rodriguez enjoys jogging, keeping up with current events, and relaxing with a strong cup of black coffee.

Dr. Allison Byrne is a board-certified family physician with a strong focus on comprehensive LGBTQ+ care. She is a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and has completed the advanced GEI medical course. Dr. Byrne remains current on best practices by actively participating in conferences and reviewing national and international guidelines. She has also played an active role in training Northern California Kaiser Permanente physicians and staff to enhance care for LGBTQ+ patients.

A California native, Dr. Byrne has lived throughout both Southern and Northern California. She earned her undergraduate degree from UC Santa Cruz and her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Touro University in Vallejo. She completed her residency in family medicine at PIH Health in Whittier, CA. After practicing in Whittier, she relocated to Sacramento, where she served as the gender care and end-of-life option lead, as well as an attending physician at the Kaiser Permanente Greater Sacramento Valley Family Medicine residency program. There, she also mentored medical students and residents with a focus on LGBTQ+ care.

Now based in the East Bay, Dr. Byrne is excited to continue her work in a diverse and inclusive environment. She provides care for patients of all ages, including young children, and has a particular interest in procedures and lifelong learning. Passionate about staying current in her field, she regularly attends medical conferences to evolve her practice.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Byrne enjoys hiking with her wife and their dogs, exploring new restaurants, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. She also enjoys reading, live music, and playing the guitar.
