Rates and Benefits Annual Process and Calendar
Each year, we have something called the Rates and Benefits Cycle. In this process, SFHSS looks at our health plans and decides if any changes are needed, including how much they cost. This helps SFHSS set goals and figure out what we need to do to stick to the SFHSS Mission. The process happens in meetings that everyone can attend, from February to June each year. The calendar shows when all the presentations about health plan rates will be.

Kaiser Permanente HMO Plans 2024 Experience
Every time a person goes to the doctor or gets a prescription from their doctor, there is a bill that gets sent to the insurance company called a claim. This presentation is about all the medical and prescription drug claims for the people who had Kaiser health insurance in 2024. There is information about what benefits employees used. Most of the details are about employees currently working and those who retired early. There is some information for retired employees. All of this data will be used to make decisions about 2026 Kaiser plan costs.

Each year dental benefits costs for retirees can change. This report shares the cost for next year.

Self-Funded and Flex-Funded Health Plans 2026 Stabilization Reserve Actions
An insurance premium is the amount you pay for an insurance policy. Each year, SFHSS calculates how much the insurance premium will be. There is a reserve fund to spread out any extra money or not enough money from insurance premiums. This helps employers and members so the cost doesn’t change too much each year. This presentation gives ideas on how much money to use for the stabilization fund for the 2026 plan rates.

The Health Service Board has seven people. The City Controller nominates one person. The Health Service Board has to vote and approve the person to join the Board.

Members can also call 628-652-4646 with any questions.
All comments received by the deadline will be forwarded to Board members, and the Board Secretary will note on the record during the specific agenda item that the Board received written public comment on that item and will include that note in the meeting minutes.
